Midnight Oil was the first band I ever saw in concert, although it wasn't because I was a fan (I had barely heard of them back then). A friend of mine had free tickets because -- let me see if I can get this right -- her aunt had been the unversity roommate of Peter Garrett''s wife. It's a small country :)
Unusually for 'round here, there was a dry electrical storm that night. This whipped the band into doing a very long encore, as the lightning resembled their album cover.
Did you know Garrett's running to become a Labor MP? I would have pegged him as a Green, but it's true that Labor much more likely to get into power.
