I just installed hit counters on my website for the first time. As soon as I uploaded the edited pages, I logged in to get my stats.
And someone was reading my webpages!
I know this shouldn't surprise me but...I dunno, I always think of my website as a bit of a ghost town, with most of my feedback coming from somewhere busy like All About Spike. But no, it seems I can log in randomly and find people reading.
*is stunned*
Brief note to
speakr2customrs: I've had a quick look at the site you mentioned. GPL is good but I'm wondering if it's not designed for people running their sites off home servers. I'm just using a .Mac site for weenies.
Update: I've just had a visitor who got there by searching for "Weetabix". I hope the poor sod isn't just looking for breakfast cereal info...
I must resist the urge to just sit, hitting "refresh". Must get back to writing more fic.
Last update, really: Turns out I'm the third link from the top if you google for "Weetabix". That's scary. (I'm fourth from the top under "indri" and top under poor old "archaeoindri".)

I haven't installed one before because I was afraid there would be very few hits and I'd get depressed.
