I stuffed up this morning and gave a broken link. As someone kindly pointed out in the comments, this link is actually this:

Descent by Indri.
SUMMARY: A post-Grave piece written with the benefit of Season Seven hindsight. Completed March 2004. 13,000 words. Spoilers to Lies My Parents Told Me. R.

Sorry, all. And thank you, anonymous stranger, for pointing out the problem.

Hi. *waves*

This is absolutely phenomenal. Heartbreaking and eerie. I always wanted to read a good fic about this point in the series with regard to Spike, and you certainly delivered. I can’t even pick out a part I liked the best; this really captured the essence of danger, of insanity, and of sadness, but more than that, it captured the essence of Spike.

Thanks for the great read. ^_^

I spent all day in a meeting today and every so often I had to hide my face behind a folder for a few moments while I grinned at the thought of your kind words.

Oh, good. ;D I can get kind of inarticulate in my praise sometimes, so I''m glad the message that I loved it got across properly.

And in return, may I thank you for "a sorta fairytale"?

But of course. I'm glad you liked it. ::blushes::

This was a very good story.

I found this absolutely riveting. And satisfying, because it fills a very real gap between the end of S6 and the beginning of S7. As far as I'm concerned this is what truly happened offscreen.

Hi indri, I found Descent on All About Spike (I've had to avoid ljland for the last few days because I hadn't yet had a chance to see Shells and I didn't want to be spoiled)and I, too, thought it was excellent. I read a lot of fic, even though I don't like most of it (I have these ridiculously high standards when it comes to reading things), and it's stories like yours that keep me going. As I plough through the - how can I put this politely? - less good stuff, I've always got that glimmer of hope that I'll stumble across something really worth reading. Descent</> is one of those pieces that make the search worthwhile. I really enjoyed it - it was well plotted, interesting, a lovely expansion of canon (as it were) and (criterion number one) it was extremely well written.
