Hi, I'm here via shapinglight's journal. I am so excited to see a new story from you. You have been one of my favorite BtVS writers since I first started reading fanfic back when the show was still airing. Can't wait to get started! I hope you don't mind that I friended you, so I can keep track of the whole story.
Very happy to have you here. I'm moved to hear that you've remembered and enjoyed my work from that far back. After so long a period of quiet, I'd presumed most people would have forgotten me. I hope you enjoy this one too. It's a change for me, much longer than my other fanfics.
DeNile is one of the best early post-chip Spike stories ever written. The voice is incredible, and the sideways look at Joyce is brilliant.
She lives in her own little reality, a universe with but a passing resemblance to our own. It's a strange place. Slayers live long lives there and danger's always thwarted and Our Heroes always live to save the world another day. She'll get to have grandkids in Joyceworld and her daughter will bury her and not the other way 'round. Even Spike's not a villain in Joyceworld (that's the bit that always threatens to break him into laughter). He's some kind of sodding hero, friend to Slayers and protector of the weak. It's hilarious. She has just no idea. Why, he'd have to be out of his mind.
I believe it was the first of your stories I ever read. I went on to read the others, of course, each one a perfect jewel of characterization and dialog. So, yes, I remember your work. It's haunted me for years.
