You know, I only post about this here because who else am I going to warble to? The SO hasn't seen any Whedonverse TV since "Lies My Parents Told Me". My conversation would go, "Hey, you remember how I said I was going to stop writing fic in January but then I didn't because I didn't want to have the Sparmony Porn Channel in my head and then I thought I'd give it up but I wanted to show support for a convention I'm not going to in Las Vegas and anyway someone else made me think of a good plot for a Giles story? Well, now I'm writing a piece about a blue-haired asexual ex-superdemon with blue hair who looks like Fred but almost isn't. And she used to have four arms."

So, deborahmm, this is the sort of thing I actually mean when he asks me what I'm thinking about and I say "plotting".

Argh. All I was going to say was that yesterday I looked over the Illyria ficathon list that debxena linked to and found my "surprise" ending listed, which was a bit of a bummer. Fortunately, this morning on the walk to work I had a better idea. It's an ending I was going to use for an Oz fic I long ago abandoned (yes, I once half-wrote an Oz fic set in Austin) but I think it will actually work even better here, if I can pull it off.

The story feels all cohesive in my head now. The feeling may not last, but I love these moments when writing.

Hello there. My husband is also not into the Whedonverse at all. He stays quiet everytime my daughter would lapse into BtVS or AtS talk during dinner. He and my son watch Wrestlemania and its ilk. My husband has also started watching One True Hill and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy with my daughter. My daughter and son watch Japanese anime. This is more or less the state of my family's boob tube bonding ritual. Notice that I do not spend telly time with my son and husband. But I'm a quick learner and clever listener, so I know the names of the wrestlers and the soap operatic twists they're imbroiled in, and now that BtVS and AtS are no more, I've started to brush up on my anime-literacy. I'm such a faker.

I'm trying to think of what we watch. The Simpsons, unless it's a repeat we've all seen many times. And we have a Friday night TV thing, when the ABC shows a string of Australian and British comedy shows in the late evening. Sometimes we watch this incredibly long-running UK police drama and soap, The Bill. Neither of us is emotionally invested in it, but some of the characters have been on telly for so long that they're like people you sort of know and like to keep tabs on even if you never invite them over for dinner,

When we were in the States, we were keen on the Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" sessions, which showed anime and adult-aimed US cartoons. That's where he discovered Cowboy Bebop and Home Movies.

Well, I for one am very glad that there will be another Indri fic. Good. Especially as today I once again have that fandom winding down feeling.

I just came into the fic writing thing too late, I think.

I'm almost glad that things may be winding down, although from where I sit everything seems as busy as ever. I have huge piles of novels to read that have been languishing as I've played here and I haven't kept up nearly as well as I should have with my friends in sf fandom.

This fic thing is just too addictive.

It's more the things people say rather than anything else - not that there's less fic around yet.

I dunno - I should be ready to let go, I know. I'm just not yet. Perhaps if it's made absolutely clear that there's no prospect of a Spike TV movie ever, then I will.

Waiting to hear what JM has to say at the next two cons he's going to (one in Australia and one in California). Maybe someone will ask him a more concrete question on the subject than they have so far? So far, he's seemed pretty definite there was to be such a thing, but no details as to when or how, which makes me doubt.

If the only thing to keep the fandom going is the upcoming BtVS animated series, set in season 1 of the show and aimed at kids, then that won't be enough for me, nor for most fans, I suspect.
