Scattered notes on Underneath

indriRewatched "Underneath" tonight. Very plotty, of course, which makes it a bit dull to rewatch. But some interesting stuff and possible foreshadowing.
Spike says to Angel, "You're fixing to do something stupid," which I think we can now tie in to the finale. Lorne looking so weary, trying to keep up, "we do that now" on learning that Gunn's been left in the hell dimension. Angel's clearly ready to start sacrificing his crew and it's the demons Spike and Lorne who object.
I'd forgotten Illyria's attack of claustrophobia. Her speech is so stylised. I'll have to pay attention in subsequent episodes to see if it gets toned down. One thing I hadn't taken in the first time around is that she/it has a strong sense of aesthetics, she gets quite rhapsodic about the beauties of other dimensions. And she doesn't know what sleep is. Does she even need to eat or does she draw mysterious energy from somewhere? She was "God to a god" , "lived seven lives at once" and was "idol of millions" apparently.
*ponders the Illyria fanclub, the Illyria "slow time" watch and the Illyria lunchbox*
Lindsey asks, "What are we going to do today?" In hell, you get to do the same damn thing each day (that's pretty close to my version of hell too).
Hamilton does make an impression, doesn't he?
Angel to Lindsey: "If I was going to kill you it wouldn't be quick." We know, dear, we know.
I'm still not sure what to make of Lindsey's not very revealing reveal at the end of episode. The apocalypse is all around us and on-going, it seems. The apocalypse as process? The apocalypse as the human condition?
Eve picked a dud: Lindsey barely seems interested in her, or the loss of her immortality. But her comment that Lindsey's behaviour is All About Angel and All About the Senior Partners fits in well with "Power Play".
Lindsey tells them, ""Heroes don't accept the world they way it is." Maybe not, but really, what would Lindsey know about that?
I take back some of my earlier comments about Queer Eye. Tonight's straight guys needed help. Any sort of help. A spray-down with Lysol possibly.
