Tiny party on my LJ and a couple of links
1. I seem to have a few new people on my Friends List. I've never asked this before, but does anyone new, lurking or otherwise want to say "hi" in my comments? I don't get out of my little fanfic corner very much, so I'd very much appreciate a few words about your fannish interests, nonfannish interests and whether we have friends in common. Pretend we've accidentally been thrown together at a party and are doing the awkward small-talk thing. If it helps, we're both holding glasses of beverage that we can sip from nervously and have a table of snacks to look at if the eye-contact thing gets too much. Also, remember, you can't catch my flu across the Internet.
2.
azdak has a discussion of Origins that also reviews some of the themes of the season. Have I mentioned before that so far I've agreed with all of
azdak's reviews? It's getting eerie.
3. Attn
deepad: do you remember how, years ago, we wanted a discussion on religious elements in BtVS that wasn't confined to Christianity? manwitch and Caroline at the All Things Philosophical Board have just started something of the sort here. I must warn you though that my knowledge of most religions (even the one I was brought up in) is minimal, so I have no way of telling if the posts make any sense.
4. Is there anything quite as fine as a good, strong, hot cup of tea?

A good, strong, hot cup of tea, with a waiting teapot full to top it off.

Think I'll go make myself another cuppa now.

I guess that would include me. ;-)
Um, I found your journal because I read your fic "Descent" and really liked it. Crazy Spike was heartbreaking. Fannish interests...well, Spike and Spuffy, or Sparmony, hee. *g*
Other than that, always nice to know another Aussie Buffy fan. ;-)
And I hope you get better from your flu soon!

And always lovely to meet another Australian. Welcome.

Do you have a new fandom or are you footloose and fancy-free?
Don't worry about the spammage: I'm sick in bed with nowt else to do.

I find staying on top of the spoilers keeps me detached enough when I read the wildfeed.. I get a general sense of what's happening and going to happen enough to satisfy my curiosity, and it keeps me jaded enough to not get unduly upset or involved. Since I can't download the episodes and watch them anymore, this way works for me.
And yeah, I am over the show, but I still skitter around the edges of fandom.
As for new fandoms, well, I've been reading in Jane Austen, Narnia, and lit classics like Sherlock Holmes where ever I can, and my interest in HP has increased with the discovery of some stellar Remus/Sirius fics, but my passion du jour is Pirates of the Carribbean. I found an OT3 on the first day!

Hi, I'm Pam, from Montgomery, Alabama. I followed a link from another livejournal (can't remember which one one) and friended you because I enjoy your journal. Australia is a little different from the southern United States. I've probably commented a time or two. I don't write, but I enjoy reading good fan fiction. I've just started reading yours. I am a long-time Buffy fan; I also like Angel, and some other shows that the Buffyverse folks don't like: Monk, CSI: Criminal Intent. I don't watch TV that much anymore; Real Life keeps me kind of busy. But, I love the people that I've encountered in Livejournal-land.

I have a couple of friends in Alabama, in Huntsville I think, although I've never managed to visit.
Glad you enjoy my journal. Mostly I just wibble on. It's hard to write for your audience when you don't always knwo who your audience is.
