INDRI: I'm taking the camera.
SO: And have you got your phone?
INDRI: Yes.
SO: And your iPod?
INDRI: Yes.
SO: And your keyboard?
INDRI: Yes.
SO: And your PDA?
INDRI: Well, my keyboard wouldn't be much use without it.
SO: TechnoGirl is now ready for the park.

I decided to spend the first day of my four-day Easter weekend at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. And yes, I used every piece of technology I had on me.

Picture number four, which looks like a flying saucer that's crashed into a rose garden, is actually a giant tropical greenhouse. The first bird is a kookaburra: its laughing cry is often heard but the bird itself is seldom seen. The photo next to it shows some bottle gourds hanging from the arch of a trellis above people's heads. The second bird is a dusky moorhen; I saw a bird very like this on Oahu so my guess is that they have a wide range. I have no idea what the second-last picture is of, except that it had an enormous fruiting body (the grey blob on the leaf below is a large coin, a 50 cent piece). The final picture is of some weird plants from the home of the lemurs, Madagascar.

I was thinking of [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_'s recent trip to the Atlanta Gardens too.

Wow. These are gorgeous. And you needed all that technology or you wouldn't have been able to share them. I mean, the iPod needs no defense. You had to rock. And the phone. Safety. So nothing extraneous. Good going, nature girl.
