If Drusilla was wearing "civilian clothes", as it were, on the night that she was turned, it's more likely that she was on the eve of taking her initial vows as a nun rather than her final ones.

And just to muddy the waters even more, by the 1860's there were Anglican religious sisterhoods active in England -- a quick Google turns up The Community of St. John Baptist, assorted orders of Anglican Benedictines founded at various dates, a nursing order called the Order of St. Saviour's Priory (founded in 1855, handily enough), and others as well.
