I've just finished drafting my first piece of constructive criticism for the Concritathon.

And now I want someone to concrit my crit...

Argh.

I was similarly nervous about it, but the person I was concritting told me she wasn't going to concrit my concrit, so in the end, I just posted it.

I so feel your pain! I concritted, and I'm now agonizing about being to critical and patronizing. Aaargh!

Not yet, not yet! I went over and checked deborahmm's out, and now I must tone down mine first...

I know what you mean. I've received two wonderful pieces of concrit (although the two people didn't agree with each other much) and I feel that what I've turned out myself pales in comparison.

However, one person I sent it to seems reasonably pleased with it, and I'm sure you'll find the same. It's bound to be more, and more constructive, than the usual 'that was great!' or whatever, isn't it?

Agree with [livejournal.com profile] speaks2urcustomers, by the way, about concritting 'Descent' being a nightmare. I can't believe there's anything to crit.

I think the problem is we are all so used, as writers, to the safety net of having someone else read our work before we go public. I sometimes wish I had a beta for my LJ posts.

You know what, I really must stop procrastinating and start writing my crit.

(Good to hear you are back on solids, BTW)

I'm probably way too harsh...

Well, I felt like that too about writing your crit! I purposely didn't read anyone's crit of anyone before I wrote mine, because I didn't want to go looking for what other people saw in other works. I did, however, read the posts from folks who said Descent couldn't be flawed. Gah. The pressure of having to critique a story everyone else says is flawless was awful! *L*
