Unfortunately, if they're not convenient and popular, they're expensive to use on the free account. I've been seriously contemplating getting a paid account just so I can pick up local/national/international news through my friends list.
My other LJ account is paid, so I'll look into this. Thanks for alerting me. And if a spoiler-free Whedonesque is set up I'd probably sign up.
