A Midsummer Night's Increasingly Vague Mental Wandering

So, I'm settling down for the night when I hear an insistent buzzing. I get out of bed, run around the bedroom for a while, failing to find the mosquito but easily locating the new bites on my shoulder. And I think, if only the Initiative had been more interested in entomology than demonology. Then they would have hunted down mosquitoes, trapped them, and inserted tiny chips into their brains to prevent them from biting people...

Only I don't think mosquitoes have brains, properly speaking, and it seems strangely cruel. Would it be better to just squish the offending mozzie or to force it to survive, against its will, on animal blood only? But what if the mosquito could be made not to want human blood? Or is that too Jasmine-like? Would I be better off sending an email to my good friend the Genetic Engineer and asking her to build us a gentler, kinder, mozzie? Except that then, perhaps, she might not succeed in the way she hoped, and she would be found in her lab one morning, stabbed by a giant proboscis, to the glee of her captive, mutant fruit-flies?

I really must be very tired.
