Like a woman who has eaten too much ice-cream
Because of the move and the work schedule I had leading up to it, I haven't been able to read fanfic for months. But last week, once I'd stopped moving for a bit and had a stable Net connection, I had a reading fit. I downloaded three months' worth of BetterBuffyFic recommendations, trawled my favourite websites, revised my recs page and joined LJ in search of new fic and new company. I was prised from my computer only when my significant other pointed out that we needed to shop.
And now the thought of reading new fic makes me feel slightly queasy---"Wafer-thin mint, monsieur?" But other than this temporary side-effect, it looks the binge has been worth it: I've been all energetic the past few days and have got much stuff done. Sorted out our finances, finally finished revising a $%!%^! research report and cleared some email. I just needed some sort of rest after moving continent and then racing around the country attending conferences and so on.
If I keep this up I might have some free time tomorrow or Wednesday for writing fic. Wouldn't that be wonderful? I haven't had any fic-writing time for six months. Hallelujah.
